Once informed on the DM trip to Belum Forest, I started doing some brief research regarding the subject for the project, Orang Asli. Orang Asli is believed to be the "first people" that inhabit the peninsular. We were told that there are two tribes that populate this part of Perak. They are the Temiar and Jahai.
During my Beta year, I've had previously experience the lifestyle of Orang Asli briefly. I did a documentary on the Tok Batin of a Semai tribe. The experience really was an advantage to me. This time I am much aware of how to collect useful data and how to approach the concept such as Orang Asli.
My previous encounter with the Semai tribe was in Cameron Highland where I spent 3 days with 3 different Orang Asli settlement, listening to their stories and understanding their culture.
However, I do hope to gain new knowledge from this up coming trip as different tribe practices different culture and believes.
Below is a collection of photos that I took during my 3 days adventure into the world of Orang Asli Semai.
From my research, I found that the Jahai is a sub-ethic group of the Negrito while the Temiar is from the main group of Senoi. Both tribes live at the edge of Temenggor lake.

The Jahai is semi-nomadic which suggest that they practice shifty cultivation and this require them to move about once the land they use to grow food dried out.Nowadays, they practice semi-sedentary cultivation. The Temiar is sedentary where the community live in a place and grow their food there.
